My home since 2007 is in Kyoto, Japan.
I've been working with urban themes since I picked up the camera but in 2006 I started a new project outside of dense urban centres moving towards nature – not a kind of nature that we imagine as untouched and ideal. It's all been modified by our human presence.
I want to explore our feeling of separation from nature with the fault line dividing things as either natural or unnatural. We try to believe that we have overcome the power of nature, it can be a positive force or even a conservative feeling of doom, but our definition is continually expanding. We seem unable to accept the essential value of everything surrounding us regargless of the predujice we protect so carefully with ideologies of one sort or another.
I was born in Prague, Czech Republic and I've lived in Toronto, Edmonton, Montreal and Vancouver. In 2005 I was awarded the national first prize of Best Graduating Artist in Canada by the Bank of Montreal's 1st Art Competition. The winning piece is in the BMO (Bank of Montreal) collection in Toronto. You can see the entire series in high resolution on this site.

I started making photographs in a small darkroom where I was immediately interested in creating composite images and experimenting with chemistry when I was fifteen years old.I operate a small studio called 23 Art Factory specializing in custom documentation and archiving of architecture, artwork and art exhibitions.
